OHHHH OHHHH (clap-clap-clap-clap) UC ! ! !

24 April

I was walking down the road toward Kahawa Sucari (translation- Coffee with Sugar), an area so named for long gone coffee plantations. I passed a small stand with a smiling man selling second hand American T-shirts and sweatshirts. Our unwanted donations end up in Africa. As Alice would say: ‘This sweatshirt still has work to do.’

And there it was: CINCINNATI BEARCATS!

I have seen people wearing Cincinnati Reds hats and T-shirts. I have not seen anyone wearing Cincinnati Bengals clothes. And here it was: A gray CINCINNATI BEARCATS sweatshirt, on the side of the road, in Kenya, in Nairobi, in Kahawa Sucari, near Kenyatta University. A little piece of home.

I gave the man 100 shillings to take a picture of the sweatshirt.

GO UC! Cincinnati here I come.
